PSC Magellan
The Magellan line of POS flatbed and vertical barcode scanners is manufactured by PSC (Photographic Sciences Corporation). Founded in 1969, PSC equipment was used for the very first grocery-store UPC barcode scan in history. In the summer of 1974, a 10-pack of Wrigley’s chewing gum was scanned at Marsh Supermarket, and the routine of checkout cashiers was altered forever.

Geared toward a high-throughput environment, the Magellan 9000 series (9500) offers an unmatched package of capabilities, including features that enhance loss-protection programs. The Magellan 8000 series (8500, 8200, 8100) brings SurroundScan technology with the ability to read a barcode in any orientation, making first-pass scans a snap. The Magellan 2000 series (2300HS, 2200VS) is intended for use in smaller operations such as convenience, dime stores, etc.
