IBM has announced that WebSphere Application Server 6 will be available before the end of the year.
The long awaited update is the first major addition to WebSphere in two years It includes a variety of new features and embraces IBM's standards-based integration strategy. It supports Web Services Interoperability (WS-I) Basic Profile I.I, WS-Security, and WS Transactions, and it simplifies Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) connections,
The update boasts quicker startup times, easier back-ups, and better failover protection. WebSphere 6 also incorporates new autonomic features, which allow it to automatically detect and correct problems like power failures or network glitches, IBM did net disclose pricing for the upcoming version.
